The Toccoa is one of the rare rivers in the Southeast that flows north — eventually crossing the Tennessee state line, where it changes its name to the Ocoee. The upper section above Lake Blue Ridge is the tubing river: shallow, warm-enough in summer, and lined with outfitters who handle the put-in and shuttle for a half-day float. The lower Toccoa, below Blue Ridge Dam, is a different river entirely — cold, fast, and one of the better wild trout fisheries in the state.
